ABOUT ANNEMARIE Christodoulou

Broad experience, but specialised skill

I am JHB-born and bred, but decided to make Cape Town home on my return from the UK in 2012. I have two small kids (8 & 5 yrs) and invest a lot of my time in getting the balance right between work and home. I am a believer in working smart and doing the impactful thing, and not just work for the sake of activity. I put that into practice in my guidance and consulting advice for my clients, as well as in my own life. Work-life balance and mindful performance enhancement are not surprisingly areas of coaching about which I am passionate.

I am an avid exerciser, and like to get outdoors walking as often as I can. My husband and I are also keen wine enthusiasts, and cooking and entertaining friends at home is how we enjoy our downtime. I am very proud of my Greek heritage, and I try as much as possible to keep that alive for our children through travel and exposure to the rich traditions of our culture. That said, I am proudly South African, and love living in the mother city.

I am driven and passionate about the idea of understanding people, their psychology and their behaviour, and then leveraging that understanding to achieve better performance and human outcomes in the workplace.

MY BACKGROUND

I hold a Masters in Industrial Psychology, and registered as an organisational psychologist with Health Professions Council of SA in 2005 (Reg number PS0092614)

I have led a variety of teams, both large and small, to deliver strategic people-related improvements in a variety of companies, most of which are complex, multi-faceted business with a broad span of employees

I have developed educational teaching work on organisational psychology as a field of applied practice, given seminars at Masters level, spoken at several conferences and continue to develop my own professional competence

I have worked as internal partner i.e. part of an HR team, as well as in an external, advisory capacity i.e. as a consulting partner

I have practical experience of what it means to manage a workforce, to drive change in human behaviour and to operationally change the way people think

I also have managed people myself, so the challenges of leading a team are something I have experienced on a practical level

I have worked in the IT, Financial Services and professional consulting services industry, both in South Africa and the UK
